About Math Club
I created Math Club to help my daughter and her friends learn their multiplication tables.
Each week the math “cadets” were assigned a multiplication table to memorize. (ie. 1x tables, 2x tables, 3x tables, etc..). If at the end of the week, they could pass a test with 100% accuracy in under one minute for their assigned multiplication table, they would each earn a badge. After they mastered their 0x, 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 10x, and 11x tables, they were promoted to “Mathematic Agents” from “Mathematic Cadets.”
To help them practice and memorize their times tables, I created coded messages that they had to use multiplication to crack. I changed the code depending on the multiplication tables they were working on that week. The coded messages led the “cadets” to find hidden prizes or badges. Sometimes I tucked in extra homework practice if they were working on a particularly tough times table.
When we met up at the end of the week for testing, we also played multiplication games, practiced times tables together, and learned some fun tricks along the way.
