Commissioned Painting with Butterfly
What do oceans of cosmic love, purple, a butterfly, a tiny/very subtle peace sign and a happy face have in common? The making of an incredibly fun and unique commissioned painting! Those were the creative instructions I received from a client email. What resulted was a one of a kind, original piece of art, that challenged me and gave me such joy in creating! Every client is different in both style and oversight. Some of my clients have a very clear vision for what they want their commissioned painting or mural to be while others know they want "something," but are not sure what direction they want to go. I have found it is the variety of clients that keep my job so interesting and fun. So, keep the commissions coming and don't ever be afraid to inquire about having a painting or mural created for you. It is a process and one I LOVE working through.
And this process was no different. I loved working with these fun and creative words (oceans of cosmic love, purple, butterfly…) to create a painting that fit my client's style and personality. From my client's words and conversations with my client about what she liked I came up with a concept painting to show the power of a little girl's imagination! A little girl holding a balloon shaped like a butterfly is imagining what it would be like to ride the butterfly across the galaxy. I used a picture of my client's daughter to model the little girl after.
Below are some pictures of the commissioned painting in progress as well as the finished product:
