Our Story

Art Hall is just beginning, but our story is years in the making. Art Hall was founded by Duluth-based artist Julie Ann McKevitt. Looking for an opportunity to bring her love of community projects and the incredible power of art to a whole new group of students, Julie was inspired to start Art Hall in 2026. This will be the first summer camp for the organization, but Julie has been creating arts programming for youth and families for over 12 years.

In 2014, after witnessing a great need for artistic outlets for youth, Julie, along with her husband Aaron and a strong community of support, began Paint Love. Paint Love brings extraordinary arts programming to youth facing poverty and trauma. The organization has grown into one of the most sought-after non-profit art programs for youth in Atlanta. Julie believes in the therapeutic power art can have and strives to give young people the ability to grow through art.

While it has been six years since Julie stepped away from the day-to-day of Paint Love and moved to Duluth, she is now excited to start something new with Art Hall. Julie continues to champion the work of Paint Love, and as any true artist, she has a steady stream of side projects, including: painting in her home studio, serving on the Duluth Public Arts Commission, and using her dance minor to lead group fitness classes. (You may also spot her doing some theatre choreography.)

*A note on our logo: while we are working to hire a designer to help us finalize our branding and logo, Julie & Aaron’s two daughters have offered their talents for the current branding. You can find a few of their logos sprinkled throughout the website.
